What do you do exactly?

I work in human resources as a vocational trainer and HR specialist. As a vocational trainer, I manage the workplace training of the 13 commercial apprentices we currently have here at SERI.

In my role as an HR specialist, I am responsible for administrative activities surrounding the employee lifecycle and I also answer questions from our employees and line managers.

What do you like about your work in particular?

I really enjoy the variety, and the fact that no two days are the same. Sometimes I'm working closely with the apprentices and their trainers, sometimes I spend a whole day updating the HR master database.

I also enjoy working with young people – it's such a pleasure for me to witness their development over the three years of their apprenticeship.

What challenges do you expect in the near future?

The apprentices in their third year are about to complete their apprenticeships, so they will need additional guidance and support as they head down the home straight. Then it will already be time to draw up schedules for the new intake of apprentices in the summer.

In the spring, various HR processes will be migrated to the updated SAP software. We need to start getting ready for that now, by learning about the new system and how the processes have changed.
