What do you do exactly?

I work in the Vocational Education and Training Unit. I help professional organisations to create or revise VET programmes. I supervise around 28 Federal VET Diploma programmes and 14 Federal VET Certificate programmes in various fields: HoReCa, transport/logistics, construction - the new Federal VET Diploma programme for solar installers, for example - and nature-related occupations. During these processes local needs and market developments are always taken into account.

What do you like about your work in particular?

I really like the diversified nature of our work and the work with fellow team members. We are in regular contact with VET partners, such as the cantons and professional organisations, as well as with their members and workplace trainers. Through support and guidance, we help these partners to find optimal solutions. Interactions with federal offices also further our mission.

What challenges do you expect in the near future?

Two challenges lie ahead. The first relates to collaboration among professional organisations: Some professions involve more than one professional organisation, which can hinder coordination efforts. All too often, this requires our intervention. The second challenge relates to the creation of new occupations: as needs evolve, the criteria applied today will need to be adjusted accordingly.
